Not a Fake Tree Cell Phone Tower

This Miami tree looks exactly like all the fake trees that they use as cell phone towers here in NJ.

We had to look closely to see that it is actually a real tree.

NIMBY, NIOBYs conclusion

Gone!

Who do you think it was?

My guess it was aliens (from outer space (as opposed to the other kind (though the ones from outer space are also technically the other kind ))) who saw the lights in the ballfield from the edge of the solar system and came down for a landing to see what was causing all that light pollution.

And were scared off by either the Police, the Groundhogs, or the Onion Grass.

Or maybe they just saw that there was no intellegent life down here, Scotty.

Or could it have been an exploratory party who have gone back with a report?

Keep an eye out in your backyard.

NIMBY, NIOBYs continued

So the police were called. And they came to investigate the following morning. And this was the report I got from the neighbor:

8:00 am Police came and checked it out. No one was there but inside the tent was bedding and some takeout food cartons. Police left a note telling them to leave. Cop said there was another such case recently that they chased away. If they don't leave, we should call them back. Hooverville in our back yard- who would have guessed!!!

I couldn’t believe it! Takeout food cartons?!? This person should have been living off the land. There is plenty of fresh venison (a whole herd at least, judging from the traffic loitering in and passing through my backyard), onion grass and dandelion leaves (yes, there is at least something green growing there) and mushrooms (then again, maybe not the mushrooms...)

NIMBY, NIOBYs

So when alert neighbor Fay G, two doors down, noticed that there was a tent set up in the back of the beyond of the woods in back, the first thought that came to her mind was that it was the work of the Childrental brothers.

And who can blame her?

However, when I assured her that the one Childrental still at home was comfortably ensconced in the glacially air conditioned comfort of his own room and not enjoying the hot buggy humidity of the great outdoors, it became a question of, it not the Childrentals, then Who? And what to do about it. And should the police be alerted?

After all, if one tent was there, more might sprout up overnight, and before we knew it, there would be tent city crowds knocking on our back door asking to use the bathroom.

Maybe it was only the work of some nature lover who had found a little patch of wilderness in NJ to enjoy, with light at night provided free of charge from the stadium lights (visible from space) in the ball field a few yards away.

Or a train buff who enjoys listening to the mournful train whistle blow as the North East Corridor trains thunder by, at the rate of about 1 train every 4 1/2 minutes.

But could it be the hideout of the thieves who have been breaking into homes in the neighborhood lately, and the police if called might find the tent filled to the vestibule with stolen loot?

And so, to be on the safe side, the police were alerted.
