The Day After the Circus Came To Town

Took these shots from my car on my way home from work today, while waiting for the Plainfield light to change. I imagine the Prez didn't have to wait the usual 5 minutes when he was here.

Fortunately, the famously exploding Edison gas main held tight for the occasion, but I still think the Prez was taking an awfully big chance by coming here, because ...

The Tastee Sub Shop is within yards of the locations of at least 2 recent gas main explosions. I even blogged about the last one which was on Jan 18th, 2010:

FYI - The Tastee Sub Shop is 1.6 miles from my home, but I was at work yesterday.

Updated 2020

The Parentals retired in February 2019 and got a small RV that August. All the Childrentals are self supporting (thanks to Physics, Data Analysis, LoudBicycle, and Mechanical Engineering), including Lumpy, whose 1st job did indeed fall from heaven. Now there are even GrandChildrentalUnits although they do not have their own blog yet.

KeepingUpWithTheParentalUnits blog was started in 2008 so the Childrental Units* could find out what the Parental Units have been doing, the same way the Parental Units keep up with the Childrental Units* by reading their blog.

* 'Childrental' as in Children-tal not Child-rental. (We are not attempting to rent out our children, although Lumpy might consider a summer job (so long as he wouldn't have to work too hard) if one were to fall from heaven onto his lap, and finals were over.
