Bumper Stickers

I don't approve of bumper stickers or magnetic ribbons, etc plastered on the backs of cars. I feel that that sort of self-aggrandizement looks tacky. A car is much more authentically and esthetically adorned with dings, scratches, dents, rust, bird poop, insect juice, or Wash Me finger-painted into dust on the back window.

IMHO, If you have something to say, put the bumper sticker on your forehead. Or better yet, say it on the web.

However, on to way to Teaneck today, (great brunch you guys, thank you! Happy Father's Day to all), we saw this bumper sticker. After a high speed chase on Route 1, I managed to capture this shot and put it on the web. Where it belongs.

I think we sort of spooked the guy driving the car by chasing after him and snapping pictures of his car. He looked to be in his 20 somethings, by the way. Certainly old enough to be tired again.

My Pi Does NOT Have the Swine Flu

My Pi has been feeing under the weather for the past few days.

I thought for sure it was the swine flu because

1. He has most of the symptoms

2. He recently visited a primitive neighboring foreign county with inferior health care - Canada.

and

3. There have been several swine flu cases in the local community:

According to www.mycentraljersey.com,

“Health officials on Thursday confirmed the first three cases of swine flu in Middlesex County, including two involving students from a private school in Piscataway … The school, which health officials did not identify, has been closed since Friday, May 22, and will remain closed until Monday, June 1, Middlesex County Health Director David A. Papi said in a statement. ”

But the ace reporters from mycentraljersey did not stop there. With a little further digging they determined that:

“Officials from the Timothy Christian School and the Diocese of Metuchen, which operates St. Francis Cabrini and Our Lady of Fatima schools in Piscataway, said the cases were not at their respective institutions. Likewise, representatives from the Lake Nelson Seventh-Day Adventist School, the Little Children-God Pre-school and the An-Noor Academy all said the cases were not at their schools, which were open.

However, no one at YST could be reached for comment. No one answered the telephone at the girls' school, but a telephone recording at the boys' school, said: "The boys' school has not had issues with the flu, and we therefore will be having regular sessions. However, we have asked all boys whose sisters have had the flu to remain home. We've also asked anyone whose sons have any symptoms at all to please keep them home and contact us right away."

(Once I heard this report, my throat started hurting immediately. Psychosomatic, I'm sure.)

According to my Pi, YST is probably is trying to keep this whole thing quiet because it could potentially interfere with future shidduchim. Can you imagine the repercussions - pigs - heimesha school - shidduch? I don't think so!

For the full story, see
www.mycentraljersey.com/article/20090528

But my Pi has bronchitis, not the swine flu. At least according to Dr G at HP Medical during his first available appointment at 3:20pm (I could be dead by then!) on Monday.

However, I'm still keeping a close eye on my Pi, just in case he starts oinking.

Happy Birthday Oma!

Happy Birthday Oma! And thanks for inviting us, Perry!

We really need to get out more. I don't think we've been in the city since Oma's last party.

Took NJ Transit in. 1st time on a double decker train!!! Why does everyone ask if we sat on top or bottom? Don't you all know me better? My Pi got seasick. Riding backwards. All that sway.

Didn't have my camera with me! Hard to believe I know, but forgot it at work. Got this off the web

Thought ride in would be the highlight, but dinner was. Wow. Perry sure knows how to throw a party.

Some observations:

Me and my pi were the only people walking in Manhattan yesterday not wearing jeans.

Saw a car with Kansas license plates. Driver and passenger nowhere in sight. Probably hiding. Must get tedious being told "You're not in Kansas anymore."

Very cool fish in the fish tank at Prime Grill. No - not available for dinner.

Other exciting news. The baby birds have left the nest. Without even saying goodbye. Or posing for a picture.

Here is the last one I have of them.

Triplets on Mother's Day

The eggs have hatched and we have triplets!

At first it looked like they were being raised by a single mom. Happily, I saw dad helping out later.

Here is some nice quality family time for your Mother's Day enjoyment.

Fun in the Poconos, The Family Vacation Part 2

Was a huge success.

Drizzly, rainy weather kept the crowds away and made the waterfalls amazing.

What we did not do:

1.Snowtubing & Horseback Riding
Though it would have been great fun to see the horses on snow tubes.

2.Lakota Wolf Preserve.
Enjoy wolves in their natural surroundings. Two shows daily.

3.Diving.

Though one of us might have considered it.

What we did do:

Enjoyed a roaring fake fire

Dingman's Falls
George w Childs Recreation Site

Anyone who wants a link to the full set of photos, let me know.

And Childrentals, just because Mother's Day is a stupid, made up, commercial Hallmark day, does not mean you do not have to call.

How Many Ways Can You Say "Bad Weather"? The Family Vacation Part 1

Live from the Poconos, the Lansey Family Vacation continues, down from 7 to 2 Lanseys.

It's another beautiful day in the neighborhood!

Last week when my Pi checked the weather, the forecast was for:

Friday Thundershowers

Saturday Showers

Sunday Light Rain

Monday Cloudy

Tuesday Scattered Thunderstorms

Checking the weather report today:

Wednesday Rain

Thursday AM Showers

Vacation over but what the heck:

Friday Isolated T-Storms

Saturday Showers

Sunday Few Showers

Just for the record, the worst weather was on Tuesday.
