2 ½ months on the road - Our Trip so Far

We left NJ with the plan to drive west till we got to the Mississippi River, and then to follow its path south. We thought that would take at most a month. We were wrong.
So far, 2 ½ months (80 days) on the road. Almost 4½ thousand miles. 14 states.
We are now heading east. We went far west as Lafayette, LA. We will go a little further south, hoping to drive as far as the road goes along the Mississippi as it dissipates into the Gulf of Mexico.
We have followed the Mississippi River about 1,050 miles from Prairie du Chen, Wisconsin to 40 miles north of New Orleans. We have seen the Mississippi from nine of the ten US states that border it.*
And I still can’t spell Mississippi without looking it up.

We have driven across the Mississippi River countless times, biked across, even taken a car ferry across. We camped along it many times, and hiked its bluffs and shoreline.
We have not swum across it, and don’t plan to.
(We have also flown across it many times, but not on this trip.)
So many blog posts to write, so little time.
The map of our activities
*We missed Minnesota.

Exactly! Just like we've been doing!
Who knew there was YouTube then!

Just like us, but without the munitions or silly hats. Those particular silly hats. We do wear other silly hats.
